How to Sign a PDF for Free (Draw, Type or Upload)

76 PDF · Updated 2026-10-22

Pick a signature style

Draw it with a mouse, finger or stylus for the most personal look. Type your name in a handwriting font for a clean, consistent result. Or upload a photo of a signature on white paper and let the tool remove the white background.

Place and resize

After creating your signature, click the page where it should go. Drag it into position and pull the corner to resize it. Use Undo if you place it in the wrong spot.

Keep it for next time

Tick Remember on this device if you sign often. The signature is stored only in this browser, never on a server, and you can delete it with one click.

Is it legally valid?

A drawn or typed signature on a PDF is a simple electronic signature. Many everyday agreements accept it, but some documents, such as certain government forms or real estate contracts, require a certified digital signature or a witness. When in doubt, ask the person who sent you the document.

Protect the signed file

After signing, you can password protect the PDF so only the intended recipient can open it.
